Job posting: Short Term Researcher (Selkirk College, Castlegar Campus)
Reporting to the Regional Innovation Chair, this temporary position will provide research support to the Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute and Regional Innovation Chair, primarily in the areas of researching, analyzing and reporting on short research assignments.
The objective for the assignments will be to provide background information on issues relating to Rural Development with a focus on Rural Economic Development. Main duties and responsibilities include: research, writing, including the development of reporting pieces suitable for media and internet releases, internal and external publication; editing of various documents and publications; attendance and information gathering at various events.
Required qualifications include previous experience in research and reporting, research related post secondary education, or equivalent related industry experience. Direct experience related to rural development including economic, social, environmental and cultural sustainability is preferred.
Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, proven ability as a researcher and writer, ability to analyze raw data and render findings in a clear and concise manner, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent computer skills including Microsoft.
This is an expression of interest posting to identify a small pool of researchers who will be selected for interim assignments which best suit their individual skill sets. This is not an offer of immediate employment. The successful candidate(s) will be called in on an as-needed basis.
